What is Your Own AI?
Your Own AI is a free, open-source (AGPL) desktop application for macOS, Windows, and Linux that runs powerful AI models entirely on your own hardware. It offers encrypted, private conversation memory, authorable AI characters, document chat, agentic coding projects, and cryptographically signed conversation records built on Holochain. An OpenAI-compatible local endpoint lets editors, agents, and scripts use your AIs. Optional paid plans add online frontier models through Flowsta's privacy-preserving relay.
How to use Your Own AI?
- Download the free desktop app for macOS, Windows, or Linux. A welcome flow gets you talking in three steps: pick or download an offline model, create or import an AI character, and start chatting. Add documents to a character's Knowledge for private document Q&A, open a project folder for agentic coding, or point external apps at the local OpenAI-compatible endpoint. Optionally subscribe to a Pro or Max plan to route select questions to online frontier models.
