What is Camoufox?

Camoufox is an open source anti-detect browser built on Firefox, designed specifically for AI agents and large-scale web automation. It is a debloated Firefox build stripped of telemetry and UI overhead, running at roughly 200MB versus Chrome's 800MB+. Fingerprint data is modified at the C++ implementation level rather than via JavaScript injection, making automation nearly impossible to detect.

How to use Camoufox?

  • Install the PyPi package to get updates and automatic fingerprint injection, then use it with your existing Playwright code out of the box. For building from source, clone the GitHub repository with Git, run 'make dir', then 'make bootstrap' once to set up the build system, and finally build and package with 'python3 multibuild.py --target linux windows macos --arch x86_64 arm64 i686'.

Core features of Camoufox

  • Works with existing Playwright code out of the box
  • Headless-first with a <200MB footprint
  • Fingerprint injection and rotation without JS injection
  • Spoofs navigator properties, screen, geolocation, timezone, locale, WebRTC IP, voices, and more
  • Anti graphical fingerprinting for WebGL parameters, extensions, and shader precision
  • Font spoofing and anti-fingerprinting
  • Human-like mouse movement
  • Blocks and circumvents ads
  • Debloated and optimized for memory efficiency
  • Stays up to date with the latest Firefox version
