What is BookLed?
BookLed is a hardcover paper book containing electronic hardware, designed for experimenting with new ways of storytelling using Generative AI. It uses a page identification sensor with magnets to recognize which page the user is reading and detect page turns, enriching the book with sound and light effects. The information is transferred to a Generative AI to produce recitations of the content in many different ways.
How to use BookLed?
- BookLed is a physical book with electronic components. Users read the book as normal, and the built-in sensor detects page turns, triggering AI-generated narration and interactive effects. For makers and DIY enthusiasts with Python skills, the current version is available on Tindie. A new version for children, educators, and parents without programming skills will be available in bookstores starting January 2026.
