What is Bitbucket?
Bitbucket is a web-based version control repository hosting service owned by Atlassian, primarily used for source code and development projects that use Git. It provides a centralized platform for teams to collaborate on code, with features like pull requests, code review, and branch permissions. Bitbucket also includes Bitbucket Pipelines, a built-in CI/CD service, and integrates deeply with other Atlassian products like Jira and Confluence.
How to use Bitbucket?
- To use Bitbucket, you first create an account and a workspace, which houses all your repositories. You can then create a new repository or import an existing Git repository, and start committing code. For CI/CD, you can configure Bitbucket Pipelines by adding a bitbucket-pipelines.yml file to your repository to define build, test, and deployment steps. You can also set up branch permissions, merge checks, and integrate with Jira for traceability.
